Creating the Perfect Cheese Tray

The creation of the perfect cheese platter can be a daunting task for a new party hostess, but these tips, I think it's easier than you think.

Plan to serve five to six cheeses, clearly selecting different styles, flavors and textures.

With an abundance of processed cheeses produced in the world, you can focus on cheeses from a single country or region, select from mild, medium or strong flavors or you can choose between categories like soft, firm, hard and blue.

Soft cheeses: Brie, Camembert, feta cheese, Colby

Semi-Soft Cheese: Mozzarella, Havarti, Monterey Jack, Brick, Muenster

Middle Cheese: American

Semi-hard cheeses: Cheddar (mild, medium and hard), Provolone, Gouda, Jarlsberg, Colby Jack

Hard cheeses: Parmesan, Asiago, Romano, Gruyere

Blue Cheeses: Stilton, Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Maytag

Cheese is best served at room temperature, which means it's a good idea to remove it from the fridge an hour before serving. Be sure to keep covered to prevent drying. Serving your inbox cheese and tasty sides like crispy French bread and fresh fruit.

Fresh Fruit Ideas: green grapes, red grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries black, make presentations nice cheese trays.

Additional Ideas: cherry tomatoes, green olives and black olives.

Presentation: Choose an oval or round serving platter. Place a bed of fresh lettuce leaves down on your plate and layer of cheese on the top sections. Among the sections of the cheese, add some fresh fruit small, cherry tomatoes and olives. You can also decorate the tray further through the use of fresh branches of herbs mint favorites.

In the center of the tray of cheese can add a container of dip or salsa. Personally, I like to add Honey Mustard sauce dip bowl Dippping small and placing it in the center of my plate of cheese.

You must have a different knife for each serving of different cheeses in the cheese platter. You can put cheese knives in the tray or just lay beside the tray, either way is acceptable.

Cheese Quantities: You should plan to serve to 2 ounces of cheese by guests.

The most important part of making a cheese platter is to offer a good variety of cheeses.
