Training for agility equipment Fido: pause table
Although the table seems to be an obstacle break very easy, it is not. Table pause is probably the one hurdle when most of the time is lost during a tour of course. The table includes a course to prove that a dog agility Not only can run fast and perform spectacular obstacles, but can also be controlled in a position to be in a particular location.
Then some of the reasons for poor performance table of a dog agility:
1. Manipulators tend to think it is an obstacle to easy to make and it does not practice enough.
2. Handlers find boring and lead to more dog.
3. It is not taught correctly and completely to the dog.
How to teach the break table for dogs:
Whenever possible always break the commands up to the simplest forms, and then, once the dog can reliably perform each segment correctly and quickly, chain back together. The command table is no different. The ultimate goal with the command table is that you should be able to send the dog to the table from any part of the field, the dog must be on the table and immediately enter or sitting position (which is necessary for the judge) and remain in that position until released. In other words, you can break the performance table in the following four things:
1. Send to the table – the dog runs with enthusiasm to the table and jumps on the table
Must be able to send his dog to the table from any position in the field and from any distance. Start your training with your dog on lead. Get your clicker ready and have enough is done. At this point, only be a few feet from the table. Also remember not to give verbal commands at this time. Encourage your dog to jump on the table. Click when your feet are on the table, try and give lots of praise. Allow the skip and repeat this process a couple of times. It is very important to keep it fun and make a game out of it. Your dog must learn to love the table. Not at this time the temptation to let your dog sit or down on the table. That alone will kill your enthusiasm. Enjoy a short break play with your dog and repeat the procedure again.
During the following training sessions you can increase the distance from the table where your dog runs to the table, but only a few meters at a time. You may take place outside of it now, but if it escapes or stops to sniff around, put it back in front. He already should have the board game. Run with it from different positions in the course. Remember to click and treat when he gets on the table.
You can at this point start adding the verbal command "table" or any word you choose. Just be consistent.
The next step in training to send to the table is getting help from a friend. Ask your friend standing behind the table. You should begin this step in the reformation of only a few feet away from the table. We will show you friend your dog a treat and then put on the table. Give your dog the command table and let him go in the table, click and let him have the treatment. The first couple of times you can still walk to the table with your dog. Then test your dog and see if it will go it alone. He should, because now he knows there is a treatment that awaited him. Remember that your dog only is allowed to jump on the table in front, otherwise it will be penalized. If you miss the side or back, your friend should take the treatment before the dog may be to it.
You can start increasing the distance from the table, but only a few feet at a time. Do not make it too difficult for your dog. If at any time, you not get reliable performance, or at least the progress of your dog, you should back a couple of steps.
Once your dog reliably run the table from any place and from any distance, you can add a barrier between the point where you sent him and the table. Start with a jump or maybe the tunnel. Now is also time terminate the treatment table. This should be done in different ways. You must still click and treat, but his friend just put the treat on the table at random.
If you have followed these guidelines, your dog would now be willing to receive training performance chained together, provided they also have completed training from other parts of the chain.
2. Quick sit or down – the dog performs a fast right away or sit down in the command
This part chain and two of the following parts, are made off the table. In fact, should be trained away from the field of agility as a whole. Again, get your clicker and treats ready. I'd say you have a dog off lead, assuming you have control over him and he already can do the sitting and down commands. If not, who should be trained first. This step is just to train your dog to do the sit and down very fast. The protest and down works exactly the same way, I'll just talk about the command down, as it is a little harder. Practice the sit and down commands in different training sessions.
With your dog in front of you or beside you, give the command below, while at the same time, bring your dog with a treat in the bottom position. Action should be to attract a quick downward motion of his hand. Click and treat when the dog goes into the down position. Repeat this several times. Start only downhill very fast. If your dog is not wearing out fast enough, not giving a reward marker and try again. A no reward marker is just a word say how "sorry" or "wrong." Your dog will learn that when you say that word, is not going to be treated. Do not punish your dog.
A Once your dog reliably performs a rapid downward from a fixed position, you can add some action. We will walk with you, do not need to heel of obedience, but should be close to you. Then suddenly, below give a quick command with a quick downward motion of his hand. Click here and try to down quickly. Repeat this exercise many times, making a game out of it. You can also run around with your dog at your side and do the same.
When your dog makes a very fast reliable down from a fixed position, a standing or running position, now you can start narrowing down his own movement. Its objective is you want the same reliable performance of your dog with only a hand signal or verbal command. Make sure you practice this every day and not try to move too fast. Later in the race will on the agility of your dog will be very happy if you take the time to lay a solid foundation.
If you have followed these guidelines, your dog would now be willing to receive training performance chained together, as long as they have completed training of the other parties chain.
3. Secure the room – The dog makes a safe stay, not moving from this position
Stay agility is slightly different from the stay obedience. In obedience to remain always turns to his dog before the year is over. In the agility of the room is broken when it issued a release order, and can be anywhere on the course. The release command can be any word or phrase you choose, but as with all commands should be used consistently. Normally, while the dog is on the table, is placed in the next hurdle. If you also want to participate in competitions of obedience, I suggest you use two commands different for the two different rooms, so the dog does not get confused.
Stay agility is not only done on the table, but can also be performed in the starting line, but not necessary. The reason I mention this is to emphasize the fact that you should not wait and train your dog to stay for five seconds. He may want to stay much longer than five positions in the starting line, while you stand on the course. Always vary the length of stay for training sessions, including up to two to five minutes. You really need to stay strong for your dog.
It is especially important not to try to advance too fast with this command. You need to set your dog for success. Increasing the length of stay or the distance away from your dog too fast, your dog will break your stay, and that can very easily become a habit. It is very important that you do not take your eye off your dog, not even for a second.
When you begin to train the agility of the stay, he should approach it exactly the same as you would stay obedience. Put your dog and be in position or sitting down. Give the command to stay and take a step. Immediately step back and click and treat. Break the room. Repeat this several times before increasing the duration with only a few seconds. While the increase in the duration, constant distance from the dog. I would strongly suggest that you first increase the duration and the distance constant, and not vice versa.
Once you get your dog to stay reliable for about two minutes, you can also, in a training session separately, start increasing the distance between the dog. You do that with just a few steps away and immediately return to your dog. With this distance further your dog, you now start working again in the duration of that distance. Repeat the whole procedure again each time you increase the distance.
You now have a very reliable stay after your dog. But what happens if you put in a room, and flee from him? I ask that question, because that is exactly what will happen a course. Of course, everything happens fast, and while the judge has up to five, you want to position themselves in the next obstacle and be ready. This requires training your dog to stay even when you run away from him. You train to do it by just moving away faster every time, and only a few steps at first, repeating the command stay as you move away.
4. Releases – the dog makes a quick release, immediately after the hand and body carry out the next hurdle
You can train the first three steps simultaneously in different training sessions. This last step release should be trained only once the dog has stayed very reliable, even when you run away from him. With training of this step or command is important to be variable, both in the length of stay and distance from the dog. Put the dog in the room feels so or down. Get away from the dog, keep a hand extended as a signal to stay, keeping an eye on the dog at all times. Wait a few seconds, give the release order, which may be a word like "good" drop your hand and encourage your dog to come to you. Click and treat when it comes to you, but never if he breaks the stay before you ordered.
Repeat above, but vary the length and distance. Remember, never drop your hand before the release order because the dog is going to take this as a signal. In addition, not to release him all the time. At least four out of ten times you should return to your dog and praise him for staying. Click and treat if you use clicker training. If you do this, your dog might get into the habit of breaking their stays.
If you teach these four separate steps and chain them together more Later you will get better, faster and more reliable performance board your dog agility.
Chaining together commands
Your dog is ready and you can start putting things back together. I suggest you use the chain again, but it really begins in the middle. Take your dog to the field where there should be three obstacles arranged in a triangle. You can jump from the table and the tunnel. Let your dog jump on the table and to sit or down on the table. Give the stay command, you must exit the tunnel with his hand extended, wait a few seconds and release. Click when you jump, and let it run through the tunnel and give a treatment. Repeat several times. Sometimes you must wait in diving.
Another training session should send the dog to the table and jump, give the sit or down command. Click and treat if they respond. Also order to stay. Click and treat on the table and it stays there. It has now reduced the four steps in two steps. Now at last you can combine these two steps to take a single stream that flows. If your dog experience difficulty in grasping this whole sequence, you should back up a few steps and the slowest progress. Following These guidelines step by step training your dog to perform the pause table, you will end up with a dog very reliable and safe to know exactly what is expected him.

How do you protect the top of a new wood kitchen table from stains, etc?
I spend about $ 900 for a table and chairs. It was half off high quality furniture, how protect themselves from the stains, etc. Should have done a cover glass or better than the wax or how protect your table tops of wood?
Mine is covered with felt-backed vinyl tablecloth. If I have to put something warm on the table, then I put a cushion under the hot plate. If someone had to do the job, then sometimes we removed the table top. Needless to say, I have some scratches on it, but I appreciate them it reminds me of the time when my children were at home. Rodolfo's suggestion is very practical. You could have a platform table with a good (washable) cloth on him. The most important thing is to protect it because accidents happen and thus there would be no bad feelings. More important than the most beautiful and expensive furnishings are family and friends.
