Im away in a hot country. I am having trouble with an over heating laptop. Would a laptop cooler help?

Im thinking of making it myself! I have a six inch desk fan that im going strip apart and use inside a case. The case will be made from either wood or Stainless Steel if i can find some. And will act as a means to lift the laptop at an angle too. The meeting underside of the laptop and the cooler will have vents for airflow. How affective do you think this will be? Do you have any other ideas? Im not in a position to buy a proper cooler.. Im going to have to make the device myself! What would be your best advice for the manufacture and design?! Many thanx…
I plan to have the fan use the normal ac power supply as im not on the move here! Im not going to be using the USB method of powering it!

Probably the fan will help.

My buddy over-clocked his PC and it would crash at 74 Degrees F but not at 72. Computers are very sensitive to temperature, and your fan should help.
