What’s the best method of applying rhinestones?

I wouldn’t say the BeDazzler because the stones and studs have prongs that snag when stapled into clothes. One Entertainment Weekly guest author calls it a “cheap-(expletive) rhinestone-studding tool favored by art teachers and over-excitable soccer moms everywhere, the biggest piece of crap sold on late-night TV since the ThighMaster.”

My favorite way to apply rhinestones to scrapbooks is Beacon’s 3 in 1 advance craft glue (at JoAnn Fabrics – $5 but can use 40 -50 % off coupon) or Crafter’s Pick, (Actually, paper is not a hard surface to work with, almost any will do.) For Fabric, I like glues specifically meant for applying jewels to fabric, like Aleene’s Jewel-it – meant to be washed. For shoes,etc, my favorite is E6000 – every bead store that sells flat back crystals recommends it and it really holds, is flexible so they don’t fall off usually.

The bling craze is all around us; jewelry, clothing, shoes and even office supplies. Yes, I said office supplies. Pens, staplers, calculators and scissors are all making their way into the fashion realm with a blinged out style that has everyone swooning.

Ok, so I know what you’re probably thinking, “crystals on my stapler? That is highly unnecessary.” I am not denying that a simple black stapler does not serve the same simple function as the blinged out one, but look around your office. Everyone sits in their same grey desks with their same black monitors in their same blue office chairs. The crystal office supplies serve as a way to stand out from the crowd.  They are a great conversation starter and everyone is going to want to borrow them!  Just make sure to get them back because the crystal stapler is just the beginning. Your crystal stapler represents you as a woman and as a person of creativity. As someone who knows what she wants in life and is going to go after it. So yes, the plain old black stapler will serve the same basic function, but don’t you want more out of life?

The crystal craze does not end there.  Calculators and scissors are also part of the trend.  Calculators are available in a variety of sizes, but the best part about these stylish supplies is that they are available in compact sizes that travel easily.  The pen is only 4 inches long while the Mini Stapler is an adorable 2.25 inches.  They may be small but they are certainly functional.  The mini Stapler Uses regular size staples and the pen can be refilled.  You can easily throw it in your backpack or briefcase and pull it out when it’s time to make a statement (or secure multiple papers together.)

These crystal supplies are available in solid colors as well as patterns. Go for an all matching set or mix it up. Either way, blinged out office supplies is a small way to just live a little. Put a spring in your step!  Add some spice to your life! In an episode of Sex In The City, Carrie walks into a comic book store and is asked if she knows about wonder woman.  “Ooh, with the bracelets and the tiara.” She replies, “I used to love that even her accessories had superpowers.”  The crystal supplies may not give you the ability to fly, but they may just give you that little push you’ve needed to step up and be the best that you can be.  And who knows?  Maybe they will give you that super strength you’ve been looking for.  So reconsider your boring office space and go shopping now!
