How does a stainless steel bar clean bad smells off your hands?

I was eating crab and tried a thing called a wonderbar, it’s appears to be a cake of soap but it is made out of stainless steel.. no soap just water and after about 30 seconds of rubbing ALL of the crab smell was gone!!!! I really need to know how please.
