What kind of companies could find themselves in a small village in western American frontier c. 1870?

What would be the companies essential? Herrero, stables, living room, hotel … and? Should an insurance company? the post office? bank? hardware? testing of the office? tanning? etc?

Yes to all of the previous …… I would say that would be most profitable business lounges, restaurants, hotels and bakeries …. There are numerous records of the pioneers longing for home bakers, so I made a list of bakeries … I would also add general stores dealers. Dealers for the simple reason that the American frontier was the most heavily armed place in history (despite what the fight against the gun lobby to make us believe … I'll save for another day …) A place that I took from the list of insurance companies is, at that time was not so much a necessity as people are not wildly suing each other at that time in our history ….
