Sheet Pads

Sheet Pads
Has anyone out there ever made their own home climbing gym crash pads?

I have 10 sheets of 4″ medium density foam 8′x4′ that I am stacking into 2 sheets to make 5 pads. The downside is I have never used a sewing machine before and I am sewing these large sheets of thick vinyl material into bags to put them in. Any hints on sewing huge projects like this?

. I can’t imagine any sewing machine in the home big enough to do this!
Whenever I have large cloth to stitch together, not ‘sew’, I use the biggest needle I can find, BIG, and thread tougher than dental floss and hand-stitch it.
Keep the stitches maybe 4-6 inches, 120 cm?, apart and away from the edges because that’s where it’ll tear through.
Ya, I know: 5 pads of 8 X 4 ! whew. Set aside 3-4 Hours and git-it-done.
I suppose there is some cloth glue that’ll work, but it’s messy.
