How To Save On Ink Cartridges

No matter what type of printer you have, you’ll need to buy ink for it, but sometimes we pay more for ink than is necessary. If your printer is a bubble jet then it will have a self cleaning feature to prevent dry ink from building up and ruining the head. This is a good thing in that it saves you the additional cost of replacing the head. But it means that more ink is used.

How can you tell if that is what’s happening? Often it happens when you go to use the printer, but if you don’t use your printer very much, you may notice that every so often you can hear it running. This is when the automatic cleaning cycle kicks in. If you do use your printer a lot, then the self cleaning cycle should not happen as much because the heads won’t have time to clog up with dry ink. But what if it does?

To prevent the self cleaning cycle from happening quite so much you would need to contact the manufacturer to find out if it is possible to cut down on the frequency. Those who don’t use the printer much can actually unplug it to stop it from self-cleaning. It will still run the cycle through when you switch it on, but meantime you’ve saved on quite a bit of ink.

Other ways to save on ink cartridges is to buy online at reduced prices, or switch over to a laser printer. The different technology means it does not have the problem of cry ink clogging up the holes in the head. And while the initial outlay is somewhat more the ink cartridges last a great deal longer.
