In their first job and want to give a good impression, concerning the work of the ethics office hours?

I'm fresh out of uni and started my first job three weeks ago. It is a job, but 9-5 is a lot of work to clean because the guy I replaced was very inefficient, and that is above all the things you get every day in your inbox. Many of my co-workers more hours. Should I do this too? This is my first job, so I create the right impression of the work ethic. On the other hand, I have a balance between work and life. I feel I should leave the office every day at 17:00 cos takes me an hour to get home and I do not feel safe walking alone in the dark, but other people do not know and they will think that only work the hours I'm paid. That is a tough, Janice! What I would is to speak with my immediate supervisor first. Explain your position and would be willing to work overtime but do not feel safe walking home in the dark.
