Smart Advice for Office Organization

In this face paced world we’re living in, good organization can equal success.  Likewise, poor organization can bring failure.  The more organized you are, the easier it’ll be for you to be successful with your work.  If you want money, clients, and success, then you MUST have excellent organizational skills. No “if’s”, “ands”, or “buts”.

Before you go out and buy a bunch of supplies, though, you need to figure out exactly what you need.  Analyze your important files and documents so that you’ll know just how you’re going to keep the safe and where.  You’ll also need to decide just how much office furniture and supplies is going to fit in your office.  You wouldn’t want to replace your current clutter with more supplies than you’ll have use for.  Once you’ve analyzed everything, you can then order the office supplies necessary for proper organization.

Office organization also requires time and energy.  You don’t want to get in a hurry, but at the same time, you don’t want to take forever.  Set aside a bit of time each day for organizing. Pay close attention to where you put every single thing.  If you find that you can’t concentrate, then stop immediately and wait until tomorrow.  Organization is more than just keeping everything neat, you have to know exactly where everything is, as well. 

Make sure you place your most important files in a place that is easily accessible by you.  Ideally it needs to be within arm’s reach of your chair.  The idea is for you to get to them as quickly as possible, especially if they need to be pulled out frequently.  If they’re taken outside of your office, take note.  Make sure that they’re returned to their File Cabinet in a timely manner.   

Office organization takes some effort, but if you’re willing to do it in a professional manner, then you’ll find the rewards will pay off quite nicely.
