Why would someone wear a metal wire pyramid on their head?

I saw a man in Soho, London yesterday and he was wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase. He was also wearing some sort of wire-frame pyramid on his head. What would this be for? I did think it could be a religious thing, but anyone got any ideas?
