Marine Corp Hand-To-Hand Combat (MCMAP)
The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) is a combat system developed by the United States Marine Corps to combine existing and new hand-to-hand and close quarters combat (CQC) techniques with morale and team-building functions and instruction in what the Marine Corps calls the “Warrior Ethos”. The program, which began in 2001, trains Marines (and U.S. Navy personnel attached to Marine Units) in unarmed combat, edged weapons, weapons of opportunity, and rifle and bayonet techniques. It also stresses mental and character development, including the responsible use of force, leadership, and teamwork. The MCMAP has several nicknames, including semper fu (a play on the Marine Corps motto semper fi and kung fu), MCSlap, MCNinja and new Bushido.
Many former Marines have competed at the highest level of hand-to-hand combat, off the battlefield, the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Notable Marine competitors include: Brian Stann and Steve Byrnes. In addition, the UFC has held events at several Marine bases.
Sport supplements for MMA hand-to-hand style fighters
The program uses an advancement system of colored belts similar to that of most martial arts. The different levels of belts are:
-Tan belt
-Gray belt
-Green belt
-Brown
-Black belt (2nd- 6th degrees may be earned)
Physical discipline. Physical discipline consists of armed and unarmed combat techniques combined as part of the USMC Physical Fitness Program and is the sinew of what every Marine must be prepared to execute—to seek out, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and movement or repel his assault by fire and close combat. Training, which is oriented on the battlefield and based on combat equipment, develops a Marine’s ability to make correct decisions while overcoming physical hardship and obstacles under any climatic condition. The unarmed combat system is a carefully developed aggregation of selected skills from more than a dozen disciplines of fighting. These armed and unarmed techniques have been systematically designed to enable Marines to fight in diverse situations and environments across the full spectrum of conflict, from high-intensity, force-on-force maneuver warfare to stability and support duties.

Is there another way to register for the marine corps marathon 09?
I was late registering for the marine corps marathon this year. I know if I agree to raise money for a charity I can get a spot but I don’t think I can do that. Does anyone know if there is another way?
