Can someone recommend a good, Heavy Duty coin counter??
I have many coins that need to be sorted and placed into coin wrappers. I did a lot of research on the net and selected a coin counter that I thought met my needs for the price. I even e-mailed the company for their recommendation (their reply was rather vague). Stupidly I purchased it anyhow. It was a Royal Sovereign Automatic Coin Sorter for $146. It was a piece of junk (jamming and stopped working constantly) and I am sending it back. Does anyone have any experieice with a brand and model that stands up to use?? Really would appreciate some first hand recommendations. Thanks if you respond!
All coin sorter/counters I know of are temperamental. There is an acquired skill required to use one. The adjustments must be made carefully. Many people use a wooden stick to stir the coins in a particular way to keep them from jamming, even the big ones in the casinos and coinstar machines jam frequently. In hindsight you would probably have been better off just using a coinstart machine at a local grocery store and letting them have the 9% that they charge. You can also get a credit for Starbucks or the like and no fee. Personally, I sort and count coins by hand, although I am tempted to let the coinstart machine count the pennies after I have taken out all the nickels, dimes, and quarters by hand.
