how to keep fresh mozzarella?

I've been buying Kraft mozzarella cheese and has been going fast bad lately. does not melt too well that only dries up and blows up. So I was wondering is there any way to keep it fresh longer and prevent this problem.

Mozzarella is produced on the package or pre-causing preservatives used shredded cheese does not melt. It's basically "cheese product" if you will. Want fresh Mozza, and does not keep long after opening. Store in an airtight bag when opened.
