By making inlaid wood veneer, What do you put as a backup in the plate?
Question says it all. I am interested in using the plate for do some wooden inlays As ever I found online I see people using touch paper "rubber band" and what I wanted I could not find this product. So I'm looking for an alternative to this type of tape. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
You should not have to use paper tape (which You can get most places offer woodworking). I used to work in a factory splice plates when I was a child and used the tape paper on the tape is divided into the plate. After the plate was attached to a support, the tape was doctored. To glue the inlay in place, the use of Liquid Glue skin (Titebond does). This will give plenty of free time (time to work with him before he created) and is reversible if you need to change something. Gentle heat and moisture is released. Liquid hide glue is a new twist on an old school product (skin glue in a hot pan). I would not use Rubber Cement or contact since are (in my humble opinion) is not suitable for wood inlays.
