I prefer to sleep under my desk in my cubicle at work on my lunch break. Why is my boss upset about this?
Ok, he knows I am clocked out. I’m usually out at the bars till closing time a few days throughout the work week, so I am very tired and hung over by the time it hits lunch time, so I take my pillow out of my filing cabinet and sleep under my desk. I put up a sheet over the entrance to my cube so people know I am trying to sleep.
I am responsible and set my alarm to get up and clock back in. I feel more refreshed and ready to work after I get up. There is nothing in the policy manual that says you cannot sleep on your lunch hour.
The drinking in no way affects my productivity before and after lunch. How do I get my boss to cool it? Am I out of line? I mean it is MY lunch hour.
Those are the days that I go into the conference room, turn something super boring on the tv, dim the lights and snooze… I would say that this is a situation in which he needs to have a better perspective provided to him… he needs clarity. For instance this is far preferred than your sleeping in say the hallway, restroom, conference room when a meeting is scheduled or any other place where your boss’ boss can see you… change is so that he is begging you to “please go sleep in your cubicle”
I am 100% with you on this and agree it is your lunch time and if you want to sleep that is your choice… if he continues to persist you could start visiting the sex shop on lunch and then playing show and tell upon return with the coworkers – another way you may change how he is looking at your sleeping.
