Basic But Elegant Ideas for Pad Printing Design

Pad printing design is actually really simple. The nature of printing note pads is special since you are actually required to give a lot of space for people to write on when you design these things. So your actual design space for pad printing is actually really limited. You can usually work only on the borders, the header and the bottom or footer of the notepad. Below are a few of the basic ways people use to design their custom pad printing.

The formal header

This is the most basic and commonly used design element for custom notepads. The formal header is usually a company’s logo along with a few departmental details and contact information. It is basically similar to the letterhead or company header people use in their official letters/memos or legal documents. It is of course located at the top of the custom pads and will always be the first to be read. Because of this, the formal header is the best pad printing design element you may want to use if you are using the note pad as a marketing tool.

The ending signature

The opposite of the formal header is the ending signature. For personal custom notepads this is the more popular design element. It usually involves the person’s signature or official logo that appears below each page of the notepad. This type of element may or may not include the contact details of the owner of the notepad. For special professional ending signatures, the specialization of the person may also be printed. For example in doctors’ notepads, the doctor may want his specialization such as pediatrics or immunology printed along with his title and contact details. The ending signature design element conveys the message that the message written in the notepad comes personally from the owner.

Custom borders and writing lines

To add a personal flavor to your pad printing designs you can have custom borders or writing lines added. This can be as simple as modern and minimalist border lines, to intricate French curves or accents. The writing guide lines in your pad can also be customized if you want. You can have them look like a single line, or they may become dotted lines or you can even be totally creative and use graphics like strings or ropes.

Watermark

Lastly, you can have a watermark added when you print notepads. A watermark is a faded or subdued image that spans the length of the pages for notepads. The image can be of a company’s logo, a mascot or even a departmental or family crest. These are usually printed lightly on the notepad so that messages can still be written unto it without clashing. Watermarks “fill-in” blank notepads making them more interesting to look at. The designer must make sure though that the watermark symbol should not be too vivid since it should only be used as a light background.
