Can a spouse of a green card holder stays in USA while waiting for the immigration process?

Actually what next after getting married to a green card holder? Can the spouse stays in USA legally, I know they cannot work till they get the green card, but can they get a driver license , a social security, open a bank account? Thanks

well, what next would be to file an I-130 immigrant petition for your spouse as soon as possible. however, those petitions take about 5 years before they are valid for use. until the petition is valid, it provides no immigration benefits at all, so unless she has some other status that allows her to remain in the US to live and work, etc, then she couldn’t do the things you’ve listed above. the only way you can speed this up is to become a US citizen as soon as possible. that would upgrade your petition to an IR-1 and make it valid for use immediately. if you do that, be sure to tell USCIS about your petition, because they won’t go look for it unless you tell them to.
