Blades Xacto Knives
Stabbed my leg by accident..?
Well today in school, we were doing a project with an XACTO-knife and I went to get a cutting board, with the blade in my hand, and I guess I accidently bumped into the table, and the whole blade stabbed into my skin. Now the cut is on the outer part of my right thigh, and I guess halfway up from my knee to my crotch, the cut is about a half inch in length but it is rather deep. Now I’ve had my Tetanus shot last year, so i’m not worried about that. I went immediately to my school nurse, and she attempted to close it up after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. She closed it up with a stereostrip, and a band aid over it.
My leg really hurts bad when I put weight on it, and it felt numb before, how would I know if it is infected or not?
it would not likely be infected already, but once it does it will ooze pus and not smell good. It will get really red and obvious. As it starts to become more infected the redness will spread away from the cut. It’s a deep cut that was cleaned with alcohol, it is bound to hurt pretty badly, just keep it clean and keep an eye on it for another day or so before you really start worrying.
Made In Michigan Safety Box Cutter – Klever Kutter
I began working in the safety industry in 2001. My work experience up till then had been limited. I worked as a general laborer most of my young life. My last job was as a chocolate confectioner (which I miss for obvious reasons). Safety or the need for safety was not often on my mind. I was young, immortal; never would I fall victim to accident. However, as I have learned, the potential for an accident is everywhere.
While camping one summer my son fell from the top of a slide and suffered a severe arm injury. I can look back on this incident and see that there was danger there. The height of the slide was approximately six feet. Add to that a misty drizzle creating a slick step at the top of the slide. On top of that (or should I say bottom), the ground around the slide did not have proper bedding for a fall. Now, anyone can look at the setting and see the potential for any one of a number of possible accidents. I knew there was potential for an accident. Why didn’t I have my son wear a full body harness tied to a lifeline that would have prevented the fall? It would have saved my son the pain and distress, the mental anguish my family felt worrying for him. It would have saved me the dread of calling my wife and telling her to meet me at the hospital because her baby boy had an accident!
By now you must be wondering why I would tell this story when this article is about safety cutters. Please bear with me, I have a point! What happened to my son was real. It happened in the real world; an average, normal day in my life. Accidents like this have and will continue to happen so long as there are willing participants (and slippery slides). Was my son’s accident avoidable? Yes. Is it realistic to put him in a safety harness to avoid falls? Not really. An accident like this can happen in the workplace, too. But in the workplace employers can proactively seek out and remove dangers, thus reducing the chances for an accident.
The numbers on cuts in the workplace:
The Bureau of Labor and Statistics reports annually on workplace injuries. Injuries from cuts, lacerations, and punctures continues to be one of the leading categories resulting in loss of work. In 2008, the number of reported incidents reached 111,560. The median days away from work being four days. When you compound the loss of work with the medical expenses you can see how costly a single incident can be. Not to mention the trauma the employee suffers.
The Klever Kutter safety cutter
The Klever Kutter was introduced to my company in 2005. I received a phone call from Advanced Molding Solutions, based in Grand Haven, MI. AMS were seeking distributors and contacted us in hopes that we could be persuaded to carry their new product. I received samples from them and showed my boss, James Phelps, who immediately liked this new Klever Kutter. So we brought some in and began to sell them. After a short time, sales started to pick up for the Klever Kutter and we determined that a new website, a safety cutter website, was needed to promote the new product.
What is the Klever Kutter? The Klever Kutter was developed in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy in New York. While there are many safe cutting products on the market I feel the Klever Kutter is the best choice for “across-the-board” safety. It features a fully protected, recessed blade which not only greatly reduces the chance of personal injury but also protects the contents of your package from blade damage. This is beneficial for companies, such as pharmaceutical suppliers and distributors, who open cartons with sensitive contents. The Klever Kutter is disposable and does not have a replaceable blade. With no blade to replace you have no exposed blades which can be a risk in and of itself. It is so unlike a traditional box cutter that TSA has approved the Klever Kutter safe for airline travel!
Features:

Dual hook design lasts twice as long as single blade cutters

Since the inception of our website I have received many, many phone calls from prospective customers and clients all over the globe. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving them, however, there are specific phone calls that trouble me. It is the call after the accident. So many times I have been on the receiving end where I hear the same story I told you of my son only instead it is an employee or coworker who had an unfortunate accident with a utility knife or standard box cutter. These calls are never easy to take.
