3m Bonding Tapes

This in turn helps improve the quality and production processes of any industry.
Bonding is just another word for the sticking together of two objects, similar or not. A household may need a bonding solution for a simple toothbrush holder. The bonding tape must have the strength to hold toothbrushes for a long period of time. The bonding is between tile and plastic, or a cement wall and plastic. This is just a simple problem inside a home and 3M bonding tapes have just the right solution for it. When it comes to industrial needs, 3M bonding tapes are just as prepared and ready to provide the right solution for almost any “sticky” problem.
3M bonding tapes were engineered to have the strength that is opt to be called a super adhesive. The Very High Bond Manufacturing (VHB) tape is one example of a 3M bonding tape. CRL 3M is a product name of a VHB tape. Considering the strength of the tape, it can replace mechanical fasteners like rivets, screws, spot welds and liquid bonds to many substrates. It is applicable for interior industrial applications where it could eliminate drilling for mechanical fasteners and the messy and time consuming mixing of liquid adhesives. It is also best for exterior industrial applications since it applies neatly and easily. It allows concealment in use and it conforms to irregular surfaces. It has excellent resistance to solvents, moisture, plasticizer migration and ultraviolet light. CRL 3M VHB manufacturing tape is available in 2” width, 33m (108ft) and is sold at $233.78. Very High Bonding (VHB) 3M Bonding Tapes are designed to bond metals, plastics and glass. It could give a more beautiful and strong finish to appliances, signs, electronics, metal fabrication, and in construction. 3M bonding tape can permanently bond windows that are either made of wood, metal, vinyl, or composite muntin bars to glass. Electronic equipment can benefit from these 3M VHB tapes because aside from its durable attachment solution, it can also act as sealant to keep out dirt and water. It is also capable of reducing vibration and shock and has a resistance to high temperature. An example of this kind of bonding is in an antenna attachment. The location is exposed to harsh environmental conditions, and if inferior bonding tapes were to be used, then the antenna might not stand for a long period of time.
No matter what material is being bonded, it is best to know the basic instructions when using 3M bonding tapes. Always clean the surface with a solution of isopropyl alcohol and water before applying the bonding tape. Best adhesion is achieved when the application is done at temperatures above 70 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius). Adequate hand or roller pressure is sufficient to make the bonding tape to adhere. 3M bonding tapes achieve their full strength within 72 hours after the application.

What formula should I use?
When adhesive tape is pulled from a dispenser, the detached tape acquires a positive charge and the remaining tape in the dispenser acquires a negative charge. if the tape pulled from the dispenser has 0.14uC of charge per centimeter, what length of tape must be pulled to transfer 1.8 x 10^13 electrons to the remaining tape?

We use qT = n*qe where qT is the total charge n the number of electrons and qe the charge of an electron. So n = qT/qe = 0.14×10^-6/1.60×10^-19 = 8.75×10^11 electrons per cm
To have 1.8×10^13 electron you would need 1.8×10^13/8.75×10^11 = 20.6cm of tape
