Acrylic Ruler

Acrylic Ruler
I Can’t seem to understand my Art assignment Can someone Help?

ok so they gave this art assignment due tommorow and i dont understand what im suppose to do can some one explain in detail because i dont understand the terms very well

thanks a lot, i appreciate good answers
here is what they gave me for instructions:

Materials:
Acrylic paints OR Colour pencils/pastels – a good range
11″x14″ ringbound softcover sketchbook, ruler

Assignment:

For each primary (subtractive) and secondary colour create 3 different scales (5 point):
Create a tint scale- addition of white (from pure hue to white in 5 steps)
Create a shade scale- addition of black (from pure hue to black in 5 steps)
Create an alternate shade scale – addition of complementary colour (from pure hue to fully mixed ½ and ½ complementary colours).

its just a colour wheel thing… you can do squares or circles squares are easier. Just apply for example red to first square..then mix with white..paint that into square 2…then add some more white paint onto square 3…then add more white paint onto square 4..then add more white paint onto square 5 you should end up with a light pink.
look at the link to see what a colour wheel is……
They have termed this assignment badly it is hard to understand…
